Our mission:
The
focus will be preparing actors for a career in the industry.
We don't
do Shakespeare, but we prepare you for auditions and performing in front of
a camera, film or TV, prime time or daytime drama.
Here's
what we do:
We
believe that film and TV actors benefit immeasurably from thorough training
in live acting.
Technique
is addressed through various exercises created by Mr. Winther: Students
will be coached and directed in a published stage play and scenes from soap
operas and from recent movies.
Students
learn what a director needs from an actor.
Students
should be prepared to work in non-traditional acting classes focusing on
the emotional control of the character considering the enormous pressures
of a film or television studio.
Classes
are a four week boot camps concluding with public performances attended by
casting directors, agents and TV/ Film Producers/Directors.
Soap
Operas
It’s
not easy, but it's easier to break into the business on a
daytime drama.
Our
students will be taught the preparation, blocking, rehearsing and the
detailed process of acting in a daily one hour network soap.
Monologue
Work
Students
will select and prepare monologues for use in class and on auditions.
The key to making a monologue reel is to understand to whom you are talking
and why.
Cold
Reading / Auditioning Techniques
Individual
cold reading auditions. After critique, actors are given the opportunity to
make adjustments. Students are challenged in life-like audition setting.
Improvisation
The
fun part of the course and the various exercises are designed to challenge
your imagination and develop your instincts.
Comedy
Students
will learn that comedy is almost never about acting funny. You still have
to find the reality of the character even if placed in embarrassing and
hilarious circumstances.
